Samantha is based in Portland, Oregon working as a freelance illustrator and designer. Her work looks at a range of themes such as death, seclusion and nature.

For me Samantha’s work also suggest themes which are often covered in Greek tragedy’s were stories are often based around myths handed down through generations

Charlie works as a Senior Concept Artist for a company in the north of England. In her spare time she is an illustrator and doodler by her own description.

Her illustrations are rich in colour and detail but I've chosen one of her scketchs as I just love the expresion on the girls face and the simplicity of the image.

Dame Laura Knight 1877-1970 was one of the leading British painters of the twentieth century. However, her rejection of Modernism and her association with the mainstream led to a decline in her reputation. This has changed over the last few years with the National Portrait Gallery taking an exhibition of her work on tour around the UK.

Although she is more well known for her paintings I really like this sketch as it captures the girl perfectly and makes me think I need to try and draw my own children more if I could get them to stand still longer than a minute.

Erin - Jonanthon Yeo

Jonathon Yeo is one of the UK's leading portrait artists being known for his portraits of iconic figures. In 2014 The Lowry staged a retrospective of the artist's work. He developed Hodgkins Lymphoma, which ended his formal studie in film but during his recovery gave him the time to learn how to paint.

Although Erin is not typical of his work I think the negative space created by not painting in cloth creates a really strong image while the proportion of the painting allows the artisti to control how your eye travels down the image.
