Jon Klassen is an illustrator and designer from Ontario, Canada. He is currently based in Los Angeles. Klassen has worked on a number of children's books such as Cats Night Out and animations for the BBC’s coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Having spent alot of time lately reading bed time stories to my children its always interesting to see the amazing range of illustrators that are out there producing childrens books. Klassens work is always stunning and always captures the atmosphere of the story it illustrates.

South Africa artist Lionel Smith is primarily a painter and sculptor. His paintings investigate the female portrait through bold brush strokes and colour.

Although I am not a painter by any means I really love this artists work and the way he can mix highly detailed brush work with loss and bold areas of colour.
